Pool finish guide

Pick the finish after you understand the tradeoff.

There is no best pool finish in the abstract. There is the finish that fits your budget, texture tolerance, chemistry habits, and how long you plan to own the pool.

Price the finish in the app

A finish choice becomes useful when it is multiplied by your pool.

Compare the feel and lifespan here, then start an estimate so the app can measure the interior surface area that turns a finish into a real project range.

The real rule

The surface is not the quote.

Published rates are useful for orientation, but they are still only rates. A resurfacing job is priced from the interior surface area, access, demolition, hollow spots, tile, coping, startup, and the contractor tier.

PoolSavr starts with the number every generic guide skips: the pool's measured interior surface area.

FAQs

Finish questions.

What is the best pool finish for most homes?
Mini pebble is the default recommendation for most family pools because it gets aggregate durability without full-size pebble texture.
What is the cheapest pool finish?
White plaster is the lowest-upfront finish. It is also the most chemistry-sensitive, so long-term value depends heavily on water care.
Which finish should I choose if I want color?
Quartz or aggregate. Pigmented plaster is the wrong shortcut because color weakens the cement surface and can create blotch and warranty problems.
Why does PoolSavr send finish shoppers into the app?
Because the finish price is multiplied by interior surface area. The app measures your actual pool before the project range is calculated.

Measure my pool

National averages can’t price your pool. They don’t know its size.

Enter your address and we’ll measure your actual pool from satellite imagery — surface area, perimeter, gallons — and price your project the way a premium contractor would. Free, about two minutes, and the measurement is yours either way.
